About Commissioner Edwards

Commissioner Victor Edwards, District 2, was sworn into office on January 7, 2019. However, he is no stranger to serving on the Dougherty County Board of Commissioners. A 1982 graduate of Dougherty Comprehensive High School, Edwards was elected in 1984 and began serving on the Board of Commissioners at the young age of 21. He was noted as the youngest African American elected to a public office in Georgia at that time. He is the owner of Edwards Enterprise Services, a janitorial/chemical business in Albany. A motivational speaker, Edwards is married to Juanita Edwards and they have a combined family of five children. He is a 1984 graduate of Albany Technical College and a 2002 graduate of Darton College (Albany State University). He also attended Albany State University from 1988 to 1990. Edwards’ favorite scripture is Proverbs 28:25: “An arrogant person stirs up strife, but he who trusts in the Lord will prosper.”
