Dougherty County Commissioners Approve Increase in Household Poundage Allowance at Landfill

(Dougherty County, Georgia)-The Dougherty County Board of Commissioners approved a recommendation from the Solid Waste Department to increase the household poundage allowance for landfill disposal during its December 1, 2025, Regular Meeting.

The approved change raises the per-household weight limit from 260 pounds to 500 pounds, giving residents additional capacity for proper waste disposal at no additional tipping fee within the allotted amount. The adjustment is intended to better accommodate household needs while encouraging responsible disposal practices. Residents are reminded to bring proper identification when visiting the landfill. This requirement helps ensure accurate verification and supports efforts to discourage illegal dumping, which poses environmental and financial impacts to the community.
