Public Safety Service Projects

Dougherty County EMS (DOCO EMS) provides paramedic, (Advanced Life Support), Emergency Medical Services to the Albany Area Community. We also strive to participate in community events as an effort to show our support and give back to the community. One of our projects that we participate in to show our support to other agencies is working closely with the Albany Police Department (APD), and the Dougherty County Police Department (DCPD), when they schedule their new hire physical agility tests throughout the year (part of which requires the new hire to be tased as part of their certification). EMS is on-scene for any health and safety issues that may arise when the new hires are completing these tasks to receive their proper certification. Collectively, our various agencies also staff SWAT. We, at DOCO EMS staff two SWAT medic positions within the Albany and Dougherty SWAT team.

Dougherty County EMS also works closely with APD and DCPD to promote various programs in the community such as drug prevention, town watch, neighborhood watch and other anti-crime efforts. One of our ongoing projects what we work together on is the annual "National Nite Out". "National Nite Out"  is where our departments come together and give out free school supplies to the families who have children enrolled in the Dougherty County School system, as an effort to promote attendance and to give back to the community. DOCO EMS stations an ambulance on-site, dispenses educational material to the public, provides free blood pressure checks, and offers a tour through our ambulances for children and adults, whilst promoting EMS as a profession.
