Mr. Deron King brings over 17 years of distinguished local government experience to the role. Most recently, he served as City Manager for East Point, Georgia. Renowned for his background in urban planning, his leadership was instrumental in establishing the Office of Equity, Inclusion & Empowerment, a department dedicated to addressing homelessness and providing housing and utility payment assistance to residents in need.
King’s extensive public service career also includes serving as City Manager for Waycross, Forsyth, and Stone Mountain, Georgia, demonstrating his versatility and commitment to leadership in local government across diverse communities. His professional accomplishments are underscored by his status as a Credentialed Manager by the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), a recognition reserved for experienced local government executives.
King holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Iowa and a Master’s in Public Administration from Clark Atlanta University.
Alex Shalishali serves as the Attorney and General Counsel for the Dougherty County Board of Commissioners and its entities. He is responsible for providing legal counsel to the board, as well as all direct county departments. Shalishali also helps Dougherty County with serving in its role as a steward of taxpayer dollars and service-provider for its citizens, with the assurance the County is compliant with the law.
The County Clerk for the Dougherty County Board of Commissioners is Jawahn Ware. She is also appointed by the County Administrator and provides administrative duties in support of the County Administrator and Board of Commissioners. This position supervises personnel within the County Administration and County Procurement.
Bristeria Clark serves as the Deputy County Clerk for the Dougherty County Board of Commissioners and is responsible for assisting with daily administrative support for the office, as well as assisting the County Clerk with duties as assigned.
Darlene Hollis serves as the Procurement Specialist for the Dougherty County Board of Commissioners and serves as the point of contact for purchases across the county departments, as well as items for surplus within the county departments.
