Appointed Boards

The Board of Commissioners of Dougherty County, Georgia will make appointments to the following listed Boards. Candidates should submit a letter of interest and/or resume to Bristeria Clark Hope, Deputy County Clerk at bclark@dougherty.ga.us.

JOINT BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS & APPEALS – One (1) appointment. One appointment (joint) will fill an unexpired three-year term ending October 1, 2022. The Board considers appeals from citizens regarding decisions and/or interpretations of the Building Inspector as it relates to the Southern Standard Building Code. Applicants should have building industry experience. The Board meets on an as-needed basis.

AIR CONDITIONING, HEATING, & VENTILATION BOARD – One (1) appointment. The appointment will fill a one-year term ending December 31, 2022. The purpose of this Board is to review all matters pertaining to standards for use of air conditioning, heating and ventilation. The Board meets on an as-needed basis. Residency requirements may apply.

DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY & CHILDREN SERVICES BOARD - One (1) appointment. The appointment will fill an unexpired five-year term ending June 30, 2024. The purpose of this Board is to provide financial aid and social services to eligible needy citizens of the county. Also, to provide funds for emergency assistance, child welfare, pauper burials and food stamp distribution. The Board meets on an as-needed basis. The appointed person must be a Dougherty County resident.

DOUGHERTY COUNTY DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY – One (1) appointment. One appointment will fill an unexpired four-year term ending December 31, 2023. The purpose of this Committee is to develop and promote the general welfare, trade, commerce, industry, and employment opportunities in the County. This Board meets on an as-needed basis.

ELECTRICAL BOARD - Four (4) appointments. These appointments will fill a one-year term ending December 31, 2022. The purpose of this Board is to consider all matters related to electrical installations, including alterations, repairs, and equipment. The Board meets on an as-needed basis. One (1) appointment must be a Master Electrician, two (2) must be an Electrical Supplier, one (1) must be Professional Engineer. The appointed person must be a Dougherty County resident.

FLOOD PLAIN MANAGEMENT REVIEW BOARD – Two (2) appointments. These appointments will fill a three-year term ending December 31, 2024. The purpose of the Board is to consider variances on structures that are below the required base flood elevation levels. This Board meets on an as-needed basis.

GAS BOARD - One (1) appointment. These appointment will fill a one-year term ending December 31, 2022. The purpose of this Board is to consider all matters related to gas work, including alterations, repairs, and equipment. This Board meets on an as-needed basis. Residency requirements may apply.

LIBRARY BOARD - One (1) appointment. The appointment will fill an unexpired three-year term ending December 31, 2023. The purpose of this Board is to establish policies for library services and review complaints regarding the library. This Board meets on the 3rd Monday of every month (except July, August, & December).

PAYROLL DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY – One (1) appointment. The appointment will fill a three-year term ending December 31, 2024. The purpose of this Board is to develop and promote for the public good and general welfare jobs and payrolls in industry, agriculture, commerce, and natural resources. This Board meets on an as-needed basis.

RETIREMENT FUND COMMITTEE – One (1) appointment. The appointment will fill a four-year term ending December 31, 2025. The purpose of the Board is to administer the plan for the exclusive benefit of participants and their beneficiaries. The Board meets quarterly (February, May, August, and November) at 9:00 AM. One (1) appointments represent citizen members. The appointed person must be a Dougherty County resident.
