About Dougherty County Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

Dougherty County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is a career EMS system located in Albany, Georgia. Dougherty County EMS provides emergency medical service to a population of 89,502 citizens in a 334 square mile area of Southwest Georgia. It is the sole 911 EMS provider for Dougherty County and is an Advance Level EMS agency responding to over 22,000 EMS calls annually.

Dougherty County EMS operates with six (6) 24/7 ALS ambulances and one (1) 12-hour ALS ambulance, contributing to our average response times for 2018 of six minutes and 22 seconds. Our average transport time for 2018 was nine minutes and seven seconds. By keeping our response times and transport down, we are able to lower the time critical patients can start receiving care, at the receiving facility and the meeting the golden hour standard for emergency care.

Dougherty County EMS operates with 52 career Paramedics, AEMTs and up to 25 part-time personnel based out of five stations. The service operates with seven running ambulances and a supervisor quick response vehicle to meet the needs of Dougherty County citizens and visitors to the county.
