About Commissioner Jones

A 37-year resident of Dougherty County, Commissioner Anthony Jones was born in Alabama. He holds an undergraduate degree from Tuskegee University and is a retiree of the University of Georgia’s Dougherty County Extension Service, where he served as the 4-H Youth Development Coordinator and County Extension Coordinator for 24 years. Commissioner Jones is an active member of Christian Life Missionary Baptist Church, where he serves in the Public Relations ministry, and others areas as needed, upon the request of the Pastor. He is married to Debra Bell Jones and they have three children and one grandchild. His hobbies include collecting antique cars, helping others, watching NASCAR Racing, and educating others about agriculture. Commissioner Jones serves on the Board of Directors for the Dougherty County Library and is an Executive Board Member for the Southwest Georgia Regional Commission Board, where he also serves as Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee. He is also a certified member of the Association of County Commissioners (ACCG), as well as numerous organizations throughout the state of Georgia.
