Dougherty County Commissioner Clinton Johnson, District 3, Reappointed to Serve on ACCG’s Board of Managers
ATLANTA, GA – Dougherty County District 3 Commissioner, Clinton Johnson, was recently reappointed and sworn in to serve on the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG or Georgia’s County Association) Board of Managers to represent the association’s At-Large Representative.
“The Board of Managers, newly installed, represents the resiliency and competency of county officials throughout Georgia,” stated Executive Director Dave Wills. “Those who have already been in service on the Board, and those who are joining for their first year of service, will continue to help Georgia and its counties navigate turbulent political and economic waters created by the pandemic and other factors. I am looking forward to working with the Board of Managers as we begin the return to economic and operational normalcy as ACCG continues its mission of advancing the interests of Georgia’s counties and the people they serve.”
Last year, Johnson was re-elected for District 3 for two consecutive terms since 2013. Known as a visionary and motivated leader with a solid history of achievement in government service, his collaborative approach has brough divergent and opposing views together to create solutions for citizens and provide community needs in a fair and balanced matter.
A proven community leader in Dougherty County, some of the highlights of Johnson’s career have included cultivating and sustaining strategic partnerships with over 20 educational, government, community and faith-based organizations, organizing and submitting grant proposals to funding agencies supporting youth initiative, yielding over $1 million in diversified resources, establishing a comprehensive parenting program to promote family engagement and economic stability in the community, and many others.
“I am honored to have been re-elected to serve on the ACCG Board of Managers for another term,” said Commissioner Johnson. “I believe that being involved and serving on a state level is equally as important as serving in my local community and I am proud to continue to represent Dougherty County and our Southwest Georgia community.”
A 2009 Scholar of the Georgia Afterschool Investment Council Institute and a 2014 graduate of the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government, Johnson also serves as a board member for the Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission (EDC), Chair of the Recreation Committee for the Dougherty County Board of Commissioners, as well as committee member of the Finance Committee of the Dougherty County Board of Commissioners and a board member for the Hospital Authority of Albany and Dougherty County.
