DOUGHERTY COUNTY, GEORGIA - The Dougherty County Public Works Environmental Control Division has recently been spraying all sides of the County to control the mosquito population. By operating four spray trucks, Environmental Control is able to ensure that all Dougherty County mosquito complaints are handled in a timely manner.

The Dougherty County Environmental Control Division stays proactive in the larvicide by treating ditches, holding ponds, canals, and low line areas of the County for mosquito larva. Additionally, lite traps have been established in various areas for continuous mosquito surveillance.

Under the direction of the Dougherty Public Works Director, the Environmental Control Division is responsible for applying herbicide to rights-of-way and canals, applying pesticides for adult mosquitoes and larvicides in water holding areas. This division is also responsible for mowing weeds and grasses located on the rights-of-way, canals, and holding ponds throughout Dougherty County.
